8 reasons to join AHEP

From access to an online member community to digital badging and exclusive partner discounts. AHEP membership provides exceptional benefits for those working in higher education professional services.

1. Online member community
Communicating with fellow members is easy thanks to our professional hub. Seek ideas and support, and share your knowledge and experience. It’s the best way for HE professionals to network online – from the office, home or on the go.

2. Qualifications
We offer a formal qualification designed specifically for HE professionals. Gain an academic award by studying our Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Administration, Management and Leadership.

3. Digital badge and post-nominal letters
Demonstrate your talent and commitment with a digital badge that can be used across your social media channels, email signature and personal website showcasing your training and qualifications, as well as your membership status. Similarly, your post-nominal letters highlight that you are an engaged HE professional and an active member of AHEP.

4. Professional Framework
The AHEP Professional Framework places your career enhancement at the heart of AHEP membership. Enabling you to take control of your professional development, the Professional Framework is a reflective tool to help you assess your strengths and areas for development and design your own interventions. Using the Framework to support your reflective practice will enable you to grow, both personally and professionally.

5. Mentoring
Our programme is an opportunity for you as a member to use a mentoring relationship to empower your career journey, improve your professional practice and support your professional development. As the largest association of HE professionals in the UK, with members in roles covering the full-breadth of professional services, we are uniquely positioned to offer this national scheme.

6. Events and conferences
Our programme of learning and development includes our Annual Conference and Exhibition, and a series of workshops and webinars on a range of HE topics and skills to enhance your knowledge and practice. If you miss out on some of our webinars, we have a dedicated digital resources page available only to our members with access to webinar recordings and related articles. Our Annual Lecture features high-profile speakers and experts from across the sector and is open exclusively to AHEP members.

7. Resources and publications
We publish blogs, articles, career stories and all our latest news on the website. As a member, we invite you to write for us – boosting your professional identity and development. We have strong links to Perspectives, a quarterly peer-reviewed journal that shares advice and expertise for HE professionals.

8. Volunteering
Professional development comes in many guises at AHEP. We offer a range of volunteer opportunities which help broaden your experiences beyond your immediate professional context. From presenting at one of our conferences, to mentoring, to becoming a Special Interest Group (SIG) Coordinator; there are lots of ways to get involved.
